Hemiarthroplasty

A shoulder hemiarthroplasty is also known as a partial shoulder replacement. This procedure is generally used to treat severe osteoarthritis that has only damaged the head of the humerus or arm bone, leaving the glenoid or shoulder socket intact. Occasionally, Dr. Burns will perform shoulder hemiarthroplasty if the socket has substantial bone loss, is fractured, or is unable to support the metal parts.
